While it is beyond me how people can claim that humans haven't had a seriously adverse impact on the planet, I think (hope!) we can all agree that it never hurts to do things that would reduce our waste. Whether it be bringing grocery bags to the store with you or turning off the water when we brush our teeth, it's all good for the earth and in turn it is good for us. We only have this 1 planet upon which to live and it is our job as sentient beings to take the best care of it that we can.
I am taking on an Earth Day project - I am going to start making my own cleaning products. I have been slowly switching over to more environmentally friendly options for a few years but I'm looking to make the next step. Making your own products is easy and it is cost effective AND it decreases the harmful junk that winds up in our streams, rivers and ground water supplies. There are a ton of great sites with recipes - most of which include things that are simple to find and cheap to buy: white vinegar, baking soda, water...and maybe some essential oils if you like things to smell "good". So Google your heart out and find some new recipes and let me know if you try them and how they work.
We're all in this together so let's take care of our home, together.
