Today's Gwen Bell question is about the best article you have read this year...nothing really pops to mind. I loved the articles on the Obama campaign and I fully admit that I happily read anything that points out what a dope Sarah Palin is but nothing really pops out in a positive way.
So today I'll write about something else. I have never been an athelete - at least by my own definition. I swam competitively from age 5 until 12 or 13 and then again in high school. I never got very good at butterfly but I have damn good form for freestyle and back stroke. Swimming was always my sport -- I understood it -- the rules, the technicality of it -- it just came naturally. Let's just say that the fact that I missed almost all of the 2008 Olympics swimming competitions broke my heart (I was in Germany and really no where near a TV) but I digress...
I have completed 3 1/2 marathons and over a dozen 5K races. I participated in the Breast Cancer 3Day in the summer of 2007. But I'm no athlete. I never really thought an athlete could be the person at the back of the pack. But perhaps being at the back of the pack just makes you a back of the pack athelete?
The reason I have been thinking of this is exercise. I got up this morning and went to the gym to rebegin the Couch to 5K program and after about 10 minutes my back hurt and my foot was bothering me. And then it dawned on me. Perhaps I am just not meant to run. Perhaps I have put this pressure on myself to run because others in my life are doing it. I do well with swimming, I really enjoyed spinning classes. All of this means I have to join the Y which is annoying expensive but what's a girl to do? It will be good for me in the end AND I want to look 1/2 decent in a wedding dress sometime next summer!

But you are SO STRONG! You could try some other arobic stuff like boxing or even mix it up with weightlifting! You can do it!
I have great faith in you!

I'm so glad you are going back to the things that you enjoy! You never know too, later on down the line you might try something again and find that now you like it. It's always a surprise!
And yes, you will look beautiful no matter what, but I understand what you mean.
